We Have Chosen Them - The Best Tutorials of the Summer Semester 2021

Students could submit suggestions for the best tutorial in different categories to TUTORING at the end of the summer semester. The team congratulated the following nominees on September 21:

• Engagement & Learning Climate: Robin Wratil - Exercise ET Math I.2 RES Part2.
• Expertise & Didactics: Marina Hüttich - Measurement and Automation Technology
• Technical implementation: Jochen Diepelt & Johannes Reimer - Technical Mechanics - Elastostatics

With the selection of the best tutorial in the semester, which was carried out for the first time in the summer semester 2021 and will be carried out regularly in the future, we want to increase the visibility of the work of tutors at the TU Dresden, because tutorials are an indispensable part of university teaching.

What is Tutoring?

In this ESF-funded project, a qualification for tutors of all study programs of the TU Dresden is offered.

The qualification is based on the individual needs of the students and the subject-specific requirements of the study programs. In addition to the preparation for the tutorial teaching activity, competencies are promoted in all participants that are also useful in later professional life, both in the application process and in everyday working life. The overall goal of the project is a central qualification for tutors of all study programs of the TU Dresden.

Have you made the leap and become a tutor? But you still lack tips and tricks for the preparation and implementation of your tutorial? Tutoring helps you with the planning of your (digital) tutorial and with any difficulties that may arise. The individual and free qualification offers exciting events, clarifies your questions and gives you the chance to develop yourself with professional support.

Modules of the Qualification

Target group: Tutors who, for example, guide exercises and (laboratory) practicals.

There are 4 central modules that all tutors can join at any time during the academic year:

• Basic module: Didactic and methodical basic knowledge as well as key competences
• Advanced workshops: e.g. developing quick-wittedness as a tutor, time management before and during the tutorial, own competence analysis, empathy and conflict management in the tutorial, voice and presence, leading computational exercises and laboratory practicals.
• Peer meeting: Exchange format with other tutors.
• Coaching: Individual support and accompaniment during the qualification process.

• first state examination for teaching Chemistry and German at High School (Gymnasium)
• certified coach

• Graduate Psychologist
• certified coach

• Bachelor of Arts, Sociology
• Student of Industrial Culture, Master of Science

• Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
• Student in Continuing Education Research and Organizational Development - Master of Arts.
