TU Dresden′s CIO and CIO Council
Following the recommendations of the Commission on IT Infrastructure (KfR) of the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the years 2001-2005, the University Executive Board established an IT Steering Committee in 2005 that is now called the CIO. It is responsible for the central planning and control of IT use at TU Dresden. It is modelled on and strategically aligned with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), who is responsible for IT in the business world. [Translator’s note: At TU Dresden the Chief Information Officer CIO is a collective committee responsible for IT security and technology]
This committee is anchored in the entire University Structure via a CIO Council with the participation of the School CIOs, CIOs from the Research Clusters and School IT Advisors from all five Schools as well as members of the Personnel Representation Council and the student body.
