Diversity at TU Dresden
Until now, individual core dimensions of diversity were given emphasis in the context of diversity at TU Dresden. For this purpose, specific concepts and strategy papers were written, substantiated with a set of measures, and finally implemented. Among them are: the Equal Opportunity Concept, Plan for the Promotion of Women, the action programm “audit family-friendly university”, the integration agreement for employees with disabilities and the internationalisation strategy. This modular design in terms of diversity has so far proven to be very useful: On the one hand, individual underrepresented target groups could be specifically promoted and, on the other hand, the funding policy at the national level required and still requires a target group-specific orientation. However, it cannot be ignored that in terms of a comprehensive diversity strategy far too few interrelations between the core dimensions and target groups are taken into consideration.
The Diversity Strategy 2030 follows an intersectional approach. This approach incorporates close interrelations between several core dimensions and target groups. With this concept, TU Dresden is breaking new ground in the context of higher education.
For the implementation of this Diversity Strategy, a close networking with various actors within and outside of TU Dresden is essential.
