MANUAL TO SETUP OUTLOOK 2016 FOR MAC
Please start Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac. If there is no account set yet the calendar view is displayed after starting.
In order to configurate an account you need to activate the tab Tools and select the button Accounts.
Please select the account type Exchange or Office 365 in the next window.
In order to set up an account you should enter all the necessary data into the following window.
Please make sure that your name and surname is written with lower-case letters in the input field E-mail address.
Otherwise problems may occur with the client certificate.
Make sure that user\ stands before your ZIH-Login in the input field User name.
Please remove the check mark Configure automatically in order to enter the Server msx.tu-dresden.de
The Exchange account will be configured by clicking the button Add Account.
If the account configuration was successful the following window will appear.
With this, the configuration is completed and your Exchange account is ready for use on Outlook. A further configuration is possible by clicking the button Advanced...
ADVANCED CONFIGURATION OF MICROSOFT OUTLOOK 2016 FOR MAC
On the left side of the window Accounts all the configured accounts are visible in a clear form.
The coloured dot indicates the synchronisation status of the account. Green means: Outlook account and Exchange server are synchronised. Yellow means: Outlook account and Exchange server are not synchronised or the synchronisation is still running.
A further account can be configured by clicking the + symbol at the lower end of the window. By clicking the – symbol you can remove an account.
On the right side of the window you can adapt the account name for the display on Outlook in the input field Account description.
Please note, that all changes take effect without further storing invitations.
By clicking the button Advanced... further settings for the server connections, mailbox substitute and security are possible.
Settings relating to the application of user certificates can be set under the tab Security.
Therefore, you need to add your client certificate by means of the Keychain administration app.
FURTHER MAILBOX FUNCTIONS
Starting from the tab Tools, you can use further mailbox functions e.g. the Online Archive, Public Folders as well as the Out of Office notes.
The display of contents from public folders happens beneath the folder Subscribed Public Folders. This one can be found in the list of folders on the left area of the window of Outlook. A subscription regarding the folders to be displayed will be necessary in advance.
The dialog in order to subscribe the desired Public Folders can be found via the tab Tools > Public Folders.
The now displayed multi-piece window serves to navigate to the folders to be subscribed.
Tag the desired folder and select Subscribe. If there are several subfolders to be subscribed, it is sufficient to subscribe the upper folder.
Depending on the authorisations issued, only the corresponding folders will be displayed.
Select Unsubscribe in order to finish the display of a folder.
Note
Outlook 2016 for Mac does not support the display of mailing lists and contacts in Public Folders.
