Under Revision
Call for Proposals Fund DLL 2023/24
Principles and Regulations for the Funding of Projects in the Field of Digital Learning and Teaching in the Years 2023/2024 at the Dresden University of Technology
ABOUT THE DLL FUND
Since 2006, the TU Dresden has provided central support funds for the realisation of digital learning and teaching scenarios. Over 150 projects have been implemented in the last eight funding periods. Currently, nine projects with a focus on digital learning and teaching are being supported with a total volume of 96,000 €. The focus of this year's call for proposals is on the sustainable didactic design, organisational implementation and institutional anchoring of (partially) digital teaching scenarios.
OBJECT AND OBJECTIVE OF THE FUNDING
Based on the decision of the Rectorate of 08.12.2020, projects are funded that serve the implementation of the e-learning strategy of the TU Dresden. Support funds (personnel and material resources) of up to 80,000 € are available for implementation until 30.09.2024 for projects with innovative ideas that are based on a justified challenge. Reviewers and a jury of university representatives decide on the funding based on the criteria outlined below in the review and decision-making process.
The following OBJECTIVES are to be pursued with the didactically justified use of digital media in teaching:
- Redesign or consolidation of sustainable teaching formats (e.g. with the help of Open Educational Resources (OER) or Open Educational Practices (OEP)).
- Supporting teaching activities by providing sustainably usable media
- Concepts for interdisciplinary teaching projects with the aim of creating sustainable teaching formats.
ELIGIBLE PROJECTS
Funding is available for projects that focus on the implementation of the above-mentioned goals through digital learning and teaching scenarios. Ideas with the following focal points can be realised:
As an example, the above-mentioned focal points can be implemented as follows (cf. implementation plan for the e-learning strategy):
- Development and provision of self-learning offers as OER or OEP to strengthen self-directed and informal learning.
- Development and implementation of (partially) digital taster and bridge courses for first-year students for asynchronous preparation with sustainable methods and tools.
- (Further) development and testing of target group-appropriate e-assessments and self-assessment offerings
- Integration of virtual group work into teaching
- Strengthening (partially) digital interactive learning formats in courses
- Training and use of e-tutors
-
Support for interdisciplinary ointernational teaching cooperations
-
Anchoring of cross-curricular cross-sectional topics as teaching content.
In addition to financial support, the ZiLL will offer continuous didactic and organisational advice and networking for all funded applicants. When submitting an application, the keyword "didactic counselling" should be indicated below the project title, if required. A decision for or against this offer has no influence on the funding decision.

An endorsement is made on the basis of the development perspectives and goals defined in the e-learning strategy of the TU Dresden or at the level of the departments/subjects/faculties.
REVIEW AND DECISION PROCEDURE
Each application is submitted anonymously to two experts at random for evaluation in a peer procedure. If the reviews differ greatly, a third reviewer will be consulted. Several proposals may be submitted, provided that the ideas are clearly delimited from each other and do not build on each other. Applicants can be funded with a maximum of one application.
The following criteria form the basis for the evaluation, whereby the first three criteria are weighted three times:
- Didactic implementation planning and feasibility
- Technical implementation planning and feasibility
- Novelty of the concepts or the implementation as well as relevance according to the goals of the e-learning strategy
- Sustainability planning and its feasibility
- Consideration of accessibility and diversity
- Completeness, proportionality and comprehensibility of the project description
- Realistic cost and time schedule
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- All lecturers at the TU Dresden who are officially entrusted with the implementation of a course are eligible to apply. Members of the Faculty of Medicine are excluded. Their applications cannot be considered within the framework of the call for proposals. Instead, the separate funding and support instruments of the Faculty of Medicine are available to this group of teachers.
- Subject to the provision of funds, the funding period begins on 01.09.2023 and ends on 31.08.2024. Shorter periods with flexible start dates are possible.
- Parallel developments to existing central IT infrastructure systems and service offerings are not funded.
- Personnel and material costs can be claimed. Basic equipment cannot be financed under this funding. The funds may only be used for the purpose stated in the application and within the period applied for. The funds are budget funds and must be spent by 30.09.2024. If funds are to be reallocated in justified cases, an informal application must be submitted in advance.
- After completion of the project, a final report and a table on the use of funds must be submitted unsolicited by 31.10.2024 at the latest. Corresponding templates will be provided by the ZiLL upon request.
- Those responsible for the funded projects are required to provide information on the project status upon request during the project term and to present their (interim) results in the context of e-learning networking events at TU Dresden.
- A publication of the experiences and results by the project leaders is expressly desired.
- Those responsible for the project undertake to take part in the kick-off and final workshops as well as at least one of the network meetings that take place several times a year. There, the project leaders present their ideas and results and can exchange ideas with other projects.
- Parts of the final report (including project information) will be documented on the TU Dresden website and, if approved, also on the pages of the Saxony Education Portal. In the spirit of Open Education/Open Science, the project results should be made available under an open licence (e.g. CC BY-SA 4.0, CC BY 4.0, CC BY-NC or CC 0). Consultations by the SLUB in cooperation with the ZiLL can be booked at any time via the Knowledge Bar.
