Visionen…
The research profile of the Faculty of Civil Engineering is characterised by topics that belong to the most innovative ones in the construction industry. In the framework of the interdisciplinary project C3 – carbon concrete composite, over 130 partners from research, industry and alliances develop a new composite material from carbon fibres and high-performance concrete. The management of the project is affiliated to TU Dresden's Institute of Concrete Structures.
The project C3 – carbon concrete composite is one of the ten funded projects in the programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research »Zwanzig20 – partnership for innovation« of the initiative »Entrepreneurial Regions«. The overall goal is the development of a resource-saving alternative to reinforced concrete, not only saving up to 50% of material, but also opening up numerous design possibilities, which are characterised by lightness and free plasticity.
Almost all research projects at the Faculty of Civil Engineering fit in the five research priority areas of TU Dresden:
-
Health Sciences, Biomedicine and Bioengineering
-
Information Technology and Microelectronics
-
Smart Materials and Structures
-
Culture and Societal Change
-
Energy, Mobility and Environment
The wide range of research projects shows how versatile and fascinating the work area of civil engineers is. This is also experienced by our students, who are involved in these projects, and the scientific staff*, further qualifying after their studies in the framework of third-party funded positions.
