Nutzung von Solarenergie zur Erzeugung regenerativer Brennstoffe
The professorship for Solar Fuel Production has been established as a joint appointment of TU Dresden and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The teaching and research topics of our professorship is based on the awareness that in a changing energy industry, fuels must be produced from renewable energy resources.
Our main tasks are:
- Training in concentrating solar technologies
- Research in the field of reactive materials for fuel production
- Contributions in the field of development of processes and plants for solar fuel generation
The focus is set on the solar production of fuels such as hydrogen, and the production of basic chemicals such as ammonia and synthesis gas for use in solar fuel production. In addition, energy-intensive industrial processes are being investigated in which solar-generated high-temperature heat can be used efficiently. Such CO2-neutral technologies are an important component of the cross-sectoral energy transition, especially beyond pure electricity production. We are researching solar process technology for tomorrow's industry, transport and agriculture.
