Summer School - VR-based Support in Medicine
How can students from different disciplines communicate with each other? Why doesn't the other understand me and why do I need insights into their work?
As part of FOSTER - Funds for Student Research - we want to strengthen the exchange between three departments in a summer school: Medicine, Construction Informatics and Mechanical Engineering. Together we want to develop an understanding of virtual reality and how it can facilitate our everyday life. All participants will work independently to learn a "common language" that enables them to communicate user requirements for the design of digital working environments. The participants are sensitized to the special features and the interfaces between the specialist areas. As a result, a virtual hospital room is available for further competence acquisition. In this way, the participants will be able to imitate and carry out targeted interdisciplinary research projects later on.
The Summerschool is prepared by doctoral students from various departments, who will then also be responsible for imparting knowledge. The research projects of all participating departments form the foundation for this. The Carus Lehrzentrum is a partner in the virTUos project with the sub-project HybParc. The Chair of Virtual Product Development is working on medical research projects such as Smaffold or OptiKneBM, and the Institute of Construction Informatics is developing cloud-based solutions for Building Information Modeling in the joint project iECO.
This project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Free State of Saxony as part of the federal and state excellence strategy.
