TU Dresden is a strong advocate for democracy and the values inseparably associated with it, such as respect, diversity and cosmopolitanism. At the same time, we warn against anti-constitutional endeavors and inhuman thinking as a credible threat to our free democratic fundamental principles.
With our project "Democratic Freedom - Achieving, Experiencing, Preserving", we are taking part in the BMBF's Science Year "Freedom". On June 15, TUD and the Zuhause in Prohlis association are inviting people of all ages to celebrate a join-in festival, creating a place for dialog on social issues and an opportunity to explore science.
Democracies thrive on social cohesion: inclusion, equality and education foster a sense of community. Through collaborative projects and participatory processes with its members and local residents, TUD helps shape a fairer and more livable future.
"In a democracy, we are not obliged to participate in our own destruction by pointing at majorities." In her policy paper on the 2024 election year, Prof. Anja Besand analyzes how schools as places of political education can act responsibly in the face of the upcoming challenges.
