Alongside research and teaching, knowledge and technology transfer is one of the key tasks of universities. TU Dresden assumes responsibility and ensures that research results reach society, politics and business – through cooperations, spin-offs and knowledge transfer.
The newly founded Excellence Center for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship TUD|excite expedites innovation and transfer management at TUD and fosters the innovative spirit and entrepreneurship of the university’s researchers. It combines all the services related to knowledge and technology transfer, patents and spin-offs under one roof.
TU Dresden holds the most patents of any university in Germany. Each year, around 100 new inventions are patented. Researchers are provided with extensive support from experts of the Transfer Office and the Patent Information Center. They conduct research worldwide, advise on the entire process of invention disclosures and patents, and provide long-term support for the researchers.
TUD is an excellent place for entrepreneurs. The start-up service dresden|exists fosters students, alumni and researchers by providing coaching, financial consulting and networking opportunities. Each year, dresden|exists advises around 20 start-ups at TUD – from the initial idea to successfully founding a new company.
