Campus Culture Festival 2022
At the first Campus Culture Festival on June 25, 2022, from 3:00 pm to midnight, visitors can expect an exciting, multifaceted program featuring musical performances, theater, dance, film and visual art. The Campus Culture Festival invites all Dresden residents both young and old to enjoy an easy-going summer afternoon on campus. Get to know the university’s artistic side! At Weberplatz, on August-Bebel-Straße, at the Biology building, in the Görges-Bau building and in the SLUB, TU Dresden’s artistic extracurricular clubs will show off what they do best. Bands will play all sorts of music, from rock to jazz to classical. Dance, theater and film workshops invite visitors to unleash their own creativity. Tours of the SLUB and the Office for Academic Heritage's gallery will present the campus as a place for art and culture. And Dresden’s student clubs, Lohrmanns Brew and various food trucks will be stationed at various locations to provide refreshments.
Admission to the Campus Culture Festival is free of charge. Workshops and tours require advance registration.

Görges-Bau buildung
Helmholtzstraße 9, 01069 Dresden
The special exhibition Bodenhaftung: Kunst und Bodenwissenschaften im Dialog (“Grounded: Art and soil science in dialogue”) is dedicated to the pressing issues of the Anthropocene and uses university teaching objects and works of art to demonstrate how (agricultural) ecology, sustainability and climate policy can be taught in the space between art and science. In addition to the tours, curators of the Office for Academic Heritage await visitors to delight them with the botanical and poetic content of the “Root sequence” installation.
The tours require advance registration. The registration is closed. Spontaneous participants are also welcome to join without registration.
With over 120 active members, the University Choir Dresden is one of TUD’s largest artistic groups, so the Campus Culture Festival wouldn’t be complete without it. The University Choir invites attendees to its a cappella concert, offering a preview of the choir’s next two concerts. Both the main choir and the chamber ensemble will perform pieces from the upcoming concerts “More than Words” and “4-5-6-7.” You can find more information about the choir and its upcoming concerts at https://unichor-dresden.de.
After much too long of a break, the campus will finally be filled with music again. University Orchestra members will loosen their chops and reawaken their fingers at the Campus Culture Festival in preparation for their concert a week later at the Lukaskirche church. You can find more information about the Orchestra and its upcoming concerts at https://www.uniorchester-dresden.de.
The Office for Academic Heritage invites visitors on an interactive walking tour from the Görges-Bau building to the Biology building. Join us on a journey through time from the 19th century to today and discover the campus from a completely new perspective.
The walking tour starts at the gallery of the Office for Academic Heritage in the Görges-Bau building.

Big Band Therapy is a motley amateur big band based at the Carl Gustav Carus medical campus. Bound by their joy in making music, the band cuts its way through the jungle of big band tunes together with its conductor Joachim Hesse. From jazz classics to Latin rock to billboard hits, the band doesn’t shy away from anything. After a long break, the musicians are thrilled to finally take the stage and play together again.
The Campusradio Dresden will organize the entertainment on both stages of the Campus Culture Festival. On this stage you can party to the sound of the music bands Calamity Friends and FEALE.

The TUD Big Band is a student orchestra specializing in big band jazz. From swing to rock to jazz to blues, from loud to soft, brisk to contemplative, fiery to dreamy – as long as it’s groovy, we’ll play it.
WEITMEER brings back the 80s! Already trending in the US, the East German newcomer from Leipzig brings the charm of "Neue deutsche Welle" back to the dance floors of the republic. Their music is authentic and addresses themes of a young generation longing for the feeling of freedom and letting go after the long months of Covid-isolation. The band captures this longing in gripping live shows with songs that sweep both small clubs and large festival stages.
In 1930, sound films were sometimes met with a cry of disdain. “How are musicians supposed to bring home the bacon?” And so, Kino im Kasten has graciously hired an (almost) penniless pianist to provide musical accompaniment to silent films for your entertainment.
Kino im Kasten presents a not-so-silent silent film for all the film buffs out there and those who would like to be.
In line with Campusradio’s tradition, the stage at the Weberplatz invites all to join in with an upbeat mood and dance music and will host a live performance of the Dresden punk rock band Focus.
Weberplatz-Building
Access via Teplitzer Straße 26, 01219 Dresden
In this workshop, participants will get a feel for improvisational theater. With just a little help and some basic techniques, they will use simple games to develop full stories. There is no script, no novel to base your work on – just the actors, the empty stage and a few prompts from which an improvised story will be played out.
The workshop requires advance registration. The workshop is fully booked.
This play deals with the metaphorical game of chess between mania and self-assertion, based on the processing of trauma depicted in Stefan Zweig’s novella The Royal Game (1942) and the Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit (2020). How does the cliché of genius and madness change in the presence of artificial intelligence? And what does mental health mean for strategic thinking? “Schachvergiftung” (“Chess poisoning”) is a multimedia performance with projected and physical worlds of chess, featuring digital and analog players.
The open rehearsal requires advance registration. The registration is closed. Spontaneous visitors are welcome to drop by even without registration.

This event is geared toward anyone who loves films and going to the movies. The workshop will take place right at the Kino im Kasten cinema on August-Bebel-Straße.
