Digital Lecture Series: The Fascination of Quantum Worlds

From November 5 to December 3, 2026, TU Dresden invites high school students ages 16 and older to join a digital lecture series every Thursday afternoon, exploring the fascinating world of quantum research and technologies. Rarely have new discoveries so fundamentally transformed our understanding of the world, of energy, and of matter. How does it differ from classical physics? How do neutrinos oscillate? How does a quantum computer work? And what makes novel quantum materials so special? Over the course of five exciting sessions, scientists from TU Dresden will guide participants through the fascinating world of quantum physics. This includes the lecture on November 5, “Particles That Pass Through Walls: The Astonishing World of Quantum Physics” by Prof. Alexey Chernikov (Würzburg-Dresden Cluster of Excellence ctd.qmat, TUD) and on November 12, “The Quantum Pendulum: What Orchestras Have to Do with the Mass of Neutrinos” by Prof. Michael Kobel from the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics.

Children’s University

The Dresden Children’s University is designed for children between the ages of eight and twelve. Each semester features five lectures on a wide variety of scientific topics. Every child who studies at the Dresden Children’s University receives a student ID and, at the end of the semester, a certificate of participation.
