Research
The Chair analyses the transformation of cities and regions. Open spaces and their ecosystem services as well as requirements for sustainable urban development are given special consideration, as are strategies, instruments and forms of governance to influence these. The Professorship for Urban Development is a joint appointment with the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER), Dresden. Many research projects are thus also carried out in close cooperation with the IOER.
In general, questions of sustainable urban planning are addressed with a focus on ‘Promoting Green Infrastructure’, ‘Climate Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Context of Urban Planning’ as well as ‘Urban Biodiversity’. For ongoing research projects, see Research Information System (FIS) of the TU Dresden.
