German-French double diploma
Are you interested in architecture and languages? Then perhaps a Franco-German architecture course is the right thing for you! In cooperation with the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Strasbourg (ENSAS), the TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) offers the German-French Double Degree. The degree program is the only binational double degree between France and Germany with a focus on architecture.
Get to know Dresden and Strasbourg, two cities with an important architectural tradition! In the broad-based architecture degree programs at TUD and ENSAS, you have many options to choose from in order to focus on specific subjects. At the same time, you will acquire intercultural skills. You will get to know the architectural culture of the partner country and improve your language skills.
Through the double diploma, you will live the Franco-German friendship and the European idea! You will actively contribute to peaceful and free cooperation between European countries based on values such as democracy, the rule of law, freedom, equality and human rights.
Acquire a valuable double qualification! With the binational degree, you are entitled to register with the chambers of architects in both Germany and France. This opens up a wide range of opportunities on the international job market.
Sponsorship
The program is funded by the Franco-German University (DFH). Participating students receive a monthly mobility allowance for their stays abroad.
Admission requirements
Dresden students who wish to participate in the Franco-German Double Degree Program must have successfully completed the first three years of study and provide proof of language level B2 ("independent use of language") in French.
Preparation
The Technical Language Center at TU Dresden offers French courses in preparation for the stay in Strasbourg. Course content includes specialist vocabulary for architecture as well as presenting and arguing in French.
Duration and academic achievements
As part of the Franco-German double degree, you will spend 2 semesters at the partner university and complete around 50% of your coursework for the main subject. The stay at ENSAS takes place in the 7th and 8th semester. The study program includes French lessons and an internship in France or a French-speaking country lasting at least two months.

Degree
The double degree consists of the Diplôme d'Etat d'architecte (DEA) from ENSAS (equivalent to the academic degree "Master"), the Diploma in Architecture from the TUD Dresden University of Technology (academic degree "Diplom-Ingenieur") and a certificate from the DHF. The final presentation takes place in front of a binational commission.
Supervision of the students
The German-French Double Diploma in Architecture is supervised at TU Dresden by the Chair of Architectural History and Architectural Theory: Prof. Dr. Sonja Hnilica (Program Officer) and Kerstin Zaschke (Program Coordinator).
At ENSAS in Strasbourg, supervision is provided by Sibylle Pöhler (Responsable pédagogique) and Jill Ferrier (Relations internationales / Mobilités).
