German-French double diploma
Since the winter semester 2008/09, the TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) and the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Strasbourg (ENSAS) have been offering a German-French double degree in architecture. The integrated major or master's degree program is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of the architectural culture and practice of the partner country and to open up a wide range of opportunities on the international job market through in-depth language skills.
The Franco-German Double Degree in Architecture is a degree program sponsored by the Franco-German University (DFH).
Admission requirements
Dresden students who wish to participate in the Franco-German Double Diploma must have successfully completed the first three years of study or provide proof of equivalent, recognized knowledge. The language level B2 ("independent use of language") in French is required.
Preparation
The Technical Language Center at TU Dresden offers a special French course every winter semester to prepare students for their stay in Strasbourg. The course content includes specialist vocabulary for architecture as well as presenting and arguing in French.
Duration and academic achievements
In order to obtain the German-French double degree, 50% of the coursework for the main subject must be completed at the partner university. Studies at ENSAS take place in the 7th and 8th semester and begin in the winter semester. Coursework and examinations completed in Strasbourg will be credited at TU Dresden towards the coursework to be completed in the main degree program. As part of the program, French lessons and an internship in France or a French-speaking country lasting at least two months are compulsory.
