Institute is part of the Collaborative Research Centre / Transregio 339 of the DFG
The Institute of Urban and Pavement Engineering is part of the new Collaborative Research Centre / Transregio 339 of the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). The Collaborative Research Center deals with the "Road of the Future" and is entitled: »Digital twin of the road system – Physical-informational representation of the future road system «.
Research groups from TU Dresden and RWTH Aachen University are conducting research together in a cooperation of civil engineering, computer science and mechanical engineering. The goal of the research area is to create and research a digital twin road and thus lay the foundation for the analysis and control of the future road system. The main focus is on the intelligent, efficient, gentle and sustainable use of the road infrastructure.
Our task as the Institute for Urban and Pavement Engineering is primarily the development of a functionalizable and thus sensitive high-performance asphalt as well as the elaboration of new procedures for the detailed characterization of the material behavior of road construction materials.
The heads of the Project parts at the Chair of Pavement Engineering are Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Frohmut Wellner (Project part A04) and Dr.-Ing. habil. Sabine Leischner (Project part A06). In addition, the Research Associates Dr.-Ing. Gustavo Canon Falla and Dipl.Ing. Erik Kamratowsky are involved in the project.
