ABSOLUT
The research goal of ABSOLUT is to integrate quasi-autonomous electric buses into public transportation infrastructure. An "on-demand" offer will be developed on a test route between railway station "Messe" and BMW plant in Leipzig. Compared to current projects it is necessary to expand suitable driving areas and controllable situations and to achieve common travel speeds (40 – 70 kph). The public transport companies of Leipzig assume the project leadership and work together with economic and scientific partners from Saxony mainly. The execution of this project on public roads enables use and development of specialist skills with regard to digital communication structure and artificial intelligence. The economy and research institutions of Saxony will be strengthened for the future this way.
The Technische Universität Dresden leads the work packages "Vehicle" and "Infrastructure" for this project. It is one part of this work to adapt an already existing vehicle platform to the new challenges. The Chair of Automotive Engineering is concerned with chassis adjustment with regard to driving safety and driving dynamics.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy funds this project with 10 million euros, because it is a key component of future mobility. The project lasts three years and will be completed by the end of 2021.
