24th enerCONNECT round table discussion with Dr. David Schönheit

Dr. David Schönheit is Advisor in the System Operations Department at the German transmission system operator 50Hertz Transmission GmbH in Neuenhagen near Berlin.

At the 24^th enerCONNECT round table, David introduced us to his diverse areas of work at 50Hertz, which range from capacity calculations for cross-border trading of the Hansa and Core Region, to countertrade analyses ("unintended exchange", market capacities), to developing local tools that meet European requirements, and preparing action instructions for shift workers.

Furthermore, David Schönheit is one of the main responsible for market issues around the world's first hybrid interconnector "Kriegers Flak - Combined Grid Solution (CGS)". Kriegers Flak connects the Danish region of Sjælland and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is the first offshore interconnector linking two wind farms and through which electricity can be transmitted and traded in both directions - from Denmark to Germany and from Germany to Denmark (400 MW).
