We are researching and teaching in the field of business administration of young businesses and technology and innovation management.
Short introduction
Innovations and new technologies are deciding forces for economic development and the advancement of society. In particular, the capability of small and middle-sized businesses to innovate is considered to be the driving force for prosperity and growth. The Chair for Entrepreneurship and Innovation – under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Michael Schefczyk – focuses on research and education in this relevant field. We offer students from the faculty of business and economics and from other faculties various lectures on the topics of business administration, entrepreneurship, as well as technology and innovation management. In terms of research, we focus on the development and financing of young firms, new product development, innovation and consumer perceptions of innovations and technologies.
To support spin-offs from universities and non-university research institutes, we cooperate closely with the initiative dresden|exists, which is led by the chair of the department. The chair was established in 1999 through the initiative of the Federal Ministry for Business and Technology with a donation by the SAP AG. Through this donation, the previously existing professorship for Innovation Management and Technology Assessment, occupied by Prof. em. Dr. Helmut Sabisch, was able to expand its topics to cover the field of Entrepreneurship.
