At the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden, 21 research groups and around 250 staff members are working together towards achieving the institute’s mission.

From the very beginning, CRTD's goal was to bring together the world's brightest minds with the most promising research approaches and to offer them a state-of-the-art research infrastructure that would enable them to meet the institute's goals. This international approach was apparent from the start with the first group leaders coming from a variety of countries such as Australia, France, the USA or Italy.

Since then, the institute has grown quite significantly (from a handful of staff in 2006 to about 250 researchers and support staff in 2020) and we have been able to maintain an international environment with employees hailing from 30 different countries. About 40% of the CRTD staff come from countries outside Germany. Among the researchers, the proportion of international staff is even around 60%. Thus, an inspiring and diverse research environment has been established at the CRTD, which now enjoys a worldwide reputation.
