Environmentally-oriented Procurement in the Public Sector
Table of contents
Every second euro in Germany is spent by the public sector. Consequently, procurement decisions of public institutions have an important influence on how the environment is affected by the goods and services provided. As the government should set the standard for environmentally-friendly behaviour, its procurement decisions should take into consideration environmental issues. The objective of this project was to analyse the legal conditions for the implementation of an environmentally-oriented procurement scheme illustrated by the example of the TU Dresden. An exemplary procurement process was implemented at the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Environmental Management. For that, a detailed questionnaire to evaluate product and company information covering the products "office swivel chairs" and "laptops" was developed.
