MSNZ Science Days 2023
More than 60 participants had a blast at the MSNZ SCIENCE DAYS 2023! On the first day, attendees had the chance to explore the exciting intersection of clinical translation and industry. At a lively panel discussion Michael Thompson (Dynabind), Christian Klose (Lipotype), Jan-Niklas Eckhard (CanSilico), Ann-Kristin Heninger (Seamless), and Peggy Jungke (HZDR Tech Transfer) discussed the paths from idea to start up and beyond – and what skills they learned and did not learn in their academic life for this! Afterward, participants could join guided tour to some of the campus's translation facilities and peak into company labs before heading over to the City Beach for networking afternoon, which became a networking evening!
On the second day participants learned and discussed with seasoned professionals how they personally navigated between clinic and research, thank you Ezio Bonifacio and Martin Bornhäuser for sharing your stories. After a well-deserved lunch break participants randomly met and chatted in “science networking” modelled on the popular speed dating setting. The poster session kicked off with poster flash talks, for which prizes for the best talks were awarded to Mario Aguilar-Herrador, Moustafa Abohawya, Anastasia Sidorenkova, Filippo Ferrucci and Vaibhav Mahajan after auditorium vote. The last day took a final, sweet turn with a cake competition where labs submitted a cake – all of which were amazing, but the over-sugared judges Anna Poetsch, Andy Goebel and Jovan Mircetic still picked a winner! - Congratulations to Taubenberger lab!
