Supervision
Supervision Agreement
Every doctoral researcher is assigned to one of the principal investigators who serves as the main supervisor for the doctoral studies. Additionally, a co-supervisor is defined for each doctoral candidate, whereby the co-supervisor typically is a principal investigator of a collaborating research project. The major role of the co-supervisor is to monitor the progress of the doctoral student and provide feedback from a more general perspective. As recommended by the DFG and the Graduate Academy (TUD), the doctoral researcher and the two supervisors sign the supervision agreement and submit this to the coordinator of the MGK-2DMs within the first 3 months of the doctoral studies.
Thesis Advisory Meeting
On a yearly basis the doctoral researcher has the obligation to organize a thesis advisory meeting to present the research results of the last year. Afterwards, both supervisors will give their feedback in an evaluation form which will be submitted to the MGK-2DMs coordinator.
Progress report
The doctoral researcher has the obligation to prepare a 5 pages annual research report and submit it to the MGK-2DMs coordinator.
