2D materials (2DMs) have gained broad attention because it can be expected, that 2DMs combine the properties of bulk and the unique features of 2D matter. The properties of 2DMs range from unique electronic and optical properties, to quantum confinement in the 2D layers, high mechanical strength, an increase in accessibility of surface sites and faster diffusion through the material. Therefore, 2DMs offer great promise in application, e.g. electronic devices, catalysis, information technology or medicine.[1]
The MGK-2DMs Summer School 2022 aims to focus on the synthesis, characterization, theoretical investigation as well as application of synthetic 2DMs. Within the frame of the 5-days event, the participants can engage with the interdisciplinary facets of synthetic 2DMs from scientific lectures, discussions, and presentations by renowned, international and national researchers. In addition, the attendees will learn about the foundations and latest developments in the respective research fields and they will have the opportunity to discuss their own work and future directions with excellent scientists of other research institutes. Furthermore, the program aims to make the doctoral researchers able to reflect the position of their own discipline and to understand the benefits of interdisciplinary cooperation.
