Spring excursion
April 2015
Spring excursion: On a sunny Sunday in April, the International Office of the School of Science took a group of international scientists and staff members on a spring excursion. The group of 32 people set off to explore one of the most interesting and most well-known Saxon towns, Freiberg. The university town of Freiberg was not only worth a visit for its past as a mining town, but also for its numerous sights. The group much enjoyed a sightseeing tour and a visit of the local cathedral with a lovely, well-informed tour guide, who had lots of little stories to tell at every street corner. At lunchtime, the group paused in a cosy restaurant and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. The subsequent visit of the exhibition Terra Mineralia made many of the participants wish they could soon return. The ample display of some of the most beautiful minerals from all over the world was breathtaking.
One of the participants said, “I really liked the tour. The guide in Freiberg was so nice and could tell us so many important details about the town. It was such a good excursion!”
