New publications on narcissism - on lay theories and cultural differences
Two new publications investigated narcissism – a personality trait characterized by decreased interpersonal and self-regulatory functioning – from different perspectives. In her recent work Lay theories of grandiose and vulnerable narcissism published in Current Psychology Tatjana Koepernik and colleagues examine lay perceptions of narcissism, whereas Emanuel Jauk and colleagues’ work Narcissism in independent and interdependent cultures published in Personality and Individual Differences looks at narcissism from an intercultural perspective. Both publications show that the perception of narcissism and its (mal)adaptive nature is dependent upon the observer and the culture.
