The EmpaToM task is now available in English
The EmpaToM paradigm, which assesses empathy, compassion and Theory of Mind, is now available in English. The task uses video stimuli of people recounting autobiographical events, thereby offering more naturalistic and dynamic stimuli for the assessment of the aforementioned socio-cognitive and –affective processes. The new findings of Dorottya Lantos, Celeste Costa, Matthew Briglia, Pascal Molenberghs, Philipp Kanske and Tanja Singer replicated the main effects found in the original German study within an English-speaking sample. Importantly, the English version of the EmpaToM was also able to show distinct neural activation patterns for empathy and Theory of Mind.
