Research across the lifespan
How do humans develop across the lifespan? What are the neurobiological and contextual mechanisms of cognitive, motivational, and emotional development from early childhood to old age? We investigate these questions in our current research projects.
Current Research Questions
The Chair of Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience studies the human development across the lifespan in various studies. In our current research projects, we investigate the following research questions:
- What are long-term effects of prenatal synthetic glucocorticoid exposure on psychosocial stress reactivity and volitional control in children and adolescents?
- How do psychophysiological mechanisms of socio-emotional processes develop across the lifespan?
- How does spatial navigation develop across the lifespan?
- Can we enhance flexible cognitive control and decision making in older adults by applying training and non-invasive brain stimulation methods?
