The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Sächsisches Krankenhaus Arnsdorf has 185 beds, 50 day clinic places and an outpatient clinic. Treatment for all mental disorders are provided, with a focus on:
- Affective disorders
- Substance Abuse disorders
- Psychotic disorders
- Gerontopsychiatric diseases
- Personality Disorders
In cooperation with other hospitals and institutions (e.g. University Hospital Dresden, Faculty of Psychology TU Dresden, University Hospital Leipzig), the department participates in research on:
- Neurobiology of Mental Disorders (Hypothalamus)
- Innovative Treatment Strategies of Depression (tDCS)
- Philosophy and Psychopathalogy
- Early Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease
- Social Psychiatry and Epidemiology
- Forensic Psychiatry and Sexual Medicine
Prof. Dr. med. Peter Schönknecht holds a research group of subcortical dysfunction in mental disorders at the University of Leipzig. Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the Sächsisches Krankenhaus Arnsdorf offers three options of care: outpatient care, day care (30 places), inpatient care (45 beds), forensic care (12 beds) and holds a considerable degree of treatment experience in the following aspects:
- Adverse childhood experiences and Psychiatric diseases in youth
- Substance Abuse disorders
- Affective Disorders
In the therapy, special consideration is given to school or workplace reintegration. In addition to the hospital school, there is close cooperation with all types of schools and networking with local providers.
In cooperation with other hospitals and institutions (e.g. University Hospital Zurich, University of Dresden), the department participates in research on:
- Allostatic load of trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Parameters of distress after trauma (e.g. C-reactive protein)
- Psychoneuroimmunology in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Psychotraumatology – PTSD
