Lessons Learned V
The Lessons Learned series of focus conferences, which was launched in September 2020, aims to shape the transition to teaching with digital elements, with a clever mix of presence and digitality. It is also concerned with creating value from the digital coronavirus semesters. Originally a campaign related to the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering at TU Dresden, where it was created and continues to be based, it has already addressed the entire university in its second edition and is now being established as a nationwide forum for exchanging ideas about new concepts in teaching.
Learning from different subject cultures - especially when it comes to new and unfamiliar topics such as the further digitalization of teaching - holds enormous potential that needs to be harnessed. Adapting methods that have been successful in other subjects to our own subjects is both a challenge and an opportunity.
The combination of presence (and the associated academic exchange) with digital components is now increasingly in the foreground, both in the development of teaching/learning scenarios and in the topics of the conference. This year, the new hype topic of "AI-supported data research" will certainly be added to this - also a digitalization topic that no one can avoid anymore...
As a special new exchange format, we will be organizing workshops this year that focus on certain critical topics and ideally provide participants with a toolbox to adapt certain teaching/learning settings in their own teaching. One workshop will deal with the organization of blended learning events, while a second will focus on the evaluation of courses.
The Lessons Learned focus conference is intended to present concepts in all areas, discuss successes and failures, provide suggestions and adapt examples for your own courses.
The contributions will be published in the Lessons Learned journal, which is completely open-access - i.e. neither authors nor readers have to pay for the journal!
