Farewell to Prof. Antonio Hurtado
15 years of outstandingly successful work for scientific excellence and interdisciplinary research
March 31, 2026 marked the end of an era for the Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group: after almost 15 years, Antonio Hurtado is stepping down as its spokesperson.
Since its foundation in 2012, the RTG has become a permanent fixture in interdisciplinary research at TU Dresden. The first application, initiated together with Wolfgang Donsbach, convinced the Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation and laid the foundation for a program that has grown continuously over the years and has gained in profile.
Prof. Hurtado's work was characterized by a clear ambition: not only to achieve scientific excellence, but to constantly develop it further. Over the course of four cohorts, the RTG was sharpened in terms of content, structurally consolidated and established as a place for challenging, interdisciplinary research.
Antonio Hurtado's many years of intensive commitment, his strategic foresight and his consistent focus on quality have had a lasting impact on the Research Training Group. The structures he helped to create and the impetus he provided form a solid foundation for the future development of the Research Training Group, including the preparations for a fifth cohort.
Looking back, this period stands for a phase of intensive development work, continuous advancement and joint scientific achievements. It is inextricably linked to the work of Prof. Hurtado.
The Boysen-TU Dresden Research Training Group would like to thank its founding spokesperson Prof. Hurtado for his many years of commitment, his foresight and his formative impulses and wishes him all the best for the future.
