Visit from Princeton at the Boysen-TUD-Research Training Group
Last Monday, September 23, 2024 the Boysen-TUD-Research Training Group welcomed two special guests: Elke Weber and Chris Greig from Princeton University. Elke Weber is Professor of Energy and Environment at the Faculty of Psychology and investigates decision-making processes in a reality that is only partially predictable. Chris Greig has an entrepreneurial background and uses his experience as a Senior Research Scientist at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment to advance the process of decarbonization with interdisciplinary research.
The guests spent two days at TUD Dresden University of Technology and, despite the short duration, took the time to get to know the Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group doctoral students. The visit began with a musical performance by doctoral student Zizhe Wang and an introduction to the students. Afterwards, Managing Director Dr.-Ing. Anna Martius gave a short presentation on the history of the Research Training Group and the clusters presented their individual doctoral projects. The guests were particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration. Differences between American and European strategies for implementing the energy transition were also discussed.
The perspective of two experts from research into renewable energies and the energy transition is very valuable for the members of the Research Training Group. In addition to comments, questions and discussions on individual projects and the Research Training Group itself, the visitors from Princeton enriched the current discussion on possible topics for a fifth Research Training Group based on the previous information and discussions.
Thank you very much for the wonderful afternoon and the opportunity to meet Elke Weber and Chris Greig!
