Scholar at 47th Annual Conference for Acoustics (DAGA 2021, August 15-18)
Doctoral student Omid Samani (D1: The impact of future mobility scenarios on annoyance caused by traffic noise) presented his research at DAGA 2021, which was held in Vienna, Austria, in a presentation titled “Effects of frequency on annoyance caused by motorcycle noise”. The conference was organized by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), Acoustics Research Institute (ARI), and German Acoustical Society (DEGA).
In this study, the effects of the frequency content and tonal components of the emitted noise by motorcycles are investigated. For this purpose, various types of motorcycles with different noise characteristics were chosen. For annoyance estimation, a perceptual experiment was conducted and, for comparison, probability density estimation was utilized. Furthermore, correlations between acoustical parameters and the resulting levels of annoyance were presented.
