Doctoral student David Schreuder at the ESCAMPIG 2024
From July 9 to 13, 2024, doctoral student David Schreuder(TP E2) attended the ESCAMPIG 2024 conference (26th Europhysics Conference on Atomic and Molecular Physics of Ionized Gases) in Brno, Czech Republic. This conference has been organized every two years at different venues since 1974. The focus of the conference is mainly on modeling and experimental research of phenomena in low-temperature plasmas. This information is fundamental background knowledge for Mr. Schreuder's sub-project E2, which deals with chemical reactions in electron beam-assisted discharges.
The conference was attended by established names in the field, doctoral students and several company representatives offering hardware and software for plasma research. The program included an interesting panel discussion on the future and current challenges of plasma modeling. Thanks to the excellent organization of the conference, there was also enough time for a social program to explore the city of Brno.
The high number of participants in the poster sessions, with a total of 150 posters, enabled a lively dialog with other researchers. This was an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas on specific scientific topics. During the poster session, doctoral student David Schreuder presented his recent results on the characterization of a nitrogen plasma using optical emission spectroscopy (OES). The event proved to be an ideal environment for networking with other doctoral students and researchers.
