Doctoral student David Schlegel bei der Cryogenic Engineering Conference and International Cryogenic Materials Conference 23
The Cryogenic Engineering Conference and International Cryogenic Materials Conference was held from July 9 to 13, 2023 at the Hawaii Convention Center, Honolulu, bringing together scientists and engineers from around the world to discuss the latest developments in cryogenics. The strikingly high number of presentations and discussions on cryogenic technologies in aviation testifies to the rapid progress and intensive research in this field.
David Schlegel, doctoral student of the Boysen-TU Dresden Research Training Group (Project F7: Comparative methodology for the development and validation of cryogenic and high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks made of fibre-plastic composites in aviation) was given the opportunity to attend the conference to present his paper on the risk analysis of liquid hydrogen tanks made of fibre-plastic composites for aviation. The ensuing discussions were very fruitful and opened up new perspectives on the research field.
The choice of Honolulu as the venue proved inspiring, as participants not only benefited from the professional discussions but also had the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and cultural diversity of Hawaii. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged interdisciplinary exchange and contributed to the creation of new networks.
