Salutations de Paris - Doctoral student presents at the 50th SEAA
This week's News of the Week comes directly from the French metropolis on the Seine. The renowned Sorbonne Université is hosting the 50th edition of the Euromicro Conference Series on Software Engineering and Advanced Applications (SEAA) from 28th to 30th of August 2024 and our doctoral student Christian Gutsche(Project F4: Monitoring concept "Sustainability of H2 production") has been on site since its start on Wednesday.
Not far from famous sights such as Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Panthéon, Mr. Gutsche presented his paper "Context-Oriented Programming and Modeling in Julia with Context Petri Nets" on Thursday morning. The paper will be published in the proceedings by the IEEE after the conference.
The scientific article introduces so-called context-oriented programming in the Julia programming language. Contexts are pieces of information that describe the situation in which a program is executed. These can be used to dynamically change the functionality of the program depending on the situation and thus react to changes in the conditions. The dynamic adaptation of simulation models for energy systems is being investigated as part of the F4 project.
The discussion after the presentation and the general scientific exchange were very valuable. There was great interest in the work presented.
The numerous other presentations by conference participants covered a wide range of topics - from model-based approaches for programming robots to AI-based approaches for improving software development. Many presentations also emphasized that developments in AI and robotics are making chip manufacturing more important than ever. Dresden as a research and business location will benefit enormously from this.
Christian Gutsche thanks the Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation for making the conference visit financially possible.
