Zizhe Wang successfully defends his dissertation
The Boysen-TUD-Research Training Group was well represented, including former members: (from left to right) Dr. Matthias Ritter (scientific project coordinator), Jannik Amon, Jakob Baumgarten, Stefan Röher, Markus Leyser, Dr. Zizhe Wang and his advisor Prof. Uwe Aßmann, Christian Gutsche, Tamar Mauritz (assistant), Varun Gurugubelli, Julia Erdmann, and Shiyu Guo.
On June 17, 2026, the big day finally arrived: Zizhe Wang successfully defended his dissertation titled “Context-Oriented Modelica for Advanced Variability Management.”
As a doctoral student of the fourth Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group, he worked on Project F6 (“Hydrogen4GreenIT”), which addresses current issues in software development and IT infrastructure. His research focused on developing methodological foundations for modular and energy-efficient energy parks.

Among his most significant scientific contributions is the development of the software extension ContextModelica, which integrates context-oriented programming into the Modelica modeling language. This enables technical systems to dynamically switch between different physical operating modes. The extension represents an important advancement in the modeling and simulation of energy parks, allowing them to flexibly adapt to fluctuating energy availability and changing physical conditions.
The doctoral committee consisted of the primary reviewer, Prof. Uwe Aßmann (TU Dresden); the secondary reviewer, Prof. Francesco Casella (Politecnico di Milano, Italy); the subject expert, Dr. Adrian Pop (Linköping University, Sweden), and committee member Prof. Daniel Neuen (TU Dresden). The committee was chaired by Prof. Martin Wollschläger (TU Dresden).
The defense of his dissertation marks the successful completion of his demanding research journey at the TUD Dresden University of Technology. It is with great pride that we warmly congratulate Zizhe Wang on his outstanding achievement. We wish him continued success, a spirit of innovation, and all the best for his future professional and personal life.
