Unveiling of the Diversity Banner at the Zellescher Weg Office Building
As part of Diversity Days, the "Farbe bekennen" banner will be replaced at the BZW on Monday, November 2, 26, at 6:00 p.m. The design of the new banner, featuring the slogan “Diversity—Live It + Shape It,” reflects TUD’s commitment to diversity, the many perspectives and identities it encompasses, and the potential it holds for the university community.
Time: November 2, 2026, 6:00 p.m.
Location: Exterior facade of the office building at Zellescher Weg 17, Entrance B,
Faculty of Architecture and Landscape
Speaker: Vice-Rector University Culture and Internationalization,
Prof. Dr. Roswitha Böhm
The banner features the painting #19318 from a series of six works created in 2024 by Henning Haupt. The original is 180 cm high and 130 cm wide, painted in oil on canvas. The print of the painting as a mesh banner at the BZW, however, is 10.80 meters high and 7.80 meters wide.
The painting is one of six works that emerged from the artist’s personal moments of reflection on the body and moods and were realized through the use of fictional, figurative elements and their painterly reworking. In this way, the painting intertwines a human figure with a general, accessible, or even fantastical space of colors in the viewer’s perception. While the implied figure remains vague and open to diverse interpretations—and thus open to the viewer’s own identification—its size nevertheless points to a comprehensible situation within a (color) spatial structure that can be perceived in a highly individual way, and, in relation to the building, also to an architectural dimension.
Artist Statement
“My studio practice focuses on the exploration of the production of painting and space. The projects include series of drawings and paintings as well as objects and installations. In this process, the conditions of the material and the context generate explorations of the medium of painting and of the experience and perception of color spaces. By grounding my work in production and process, it bridges formal and broader questions regarding human space.” (Henning Haupt)
