Perlmutter Adventure Museum Adorf/Vogtl. opens
Since its opening last week, the Perlmutter adventure museum in Adorf in the Vogtland region has enjoyed great popularity. The new museum, the only one of its kind in the world, was designed and built by architects and university professors Ansgar and Benedikt Schulz (Chair of Architectural Design and Construction I). It is dedicated to the cultural heritage of the river pearl mussel, pearl fishing and the manufacture of mother-of-pearl products. Its appearance is derived from the structure of the mussel: rough shell and precious interior are in contrast and yet form a unity. The crookedly deformed building shell transforms the image of the mussel shell and sends a signal into the public space. Water flows continuously over the concrete shell into a fountain, thus referring to flowing water as the basis of the mussel's life.
The museum is now open to visitors from Tuesdays to Sundays. Further information can be found at: Adventure Museum Perlmutter Adorf in Vogtland
