Chair of EKI together with Chair of TWP at "Construir en piedra hoy 2026"

Prof. Benedikt Schulz and Michael Senn (Chair of Architectural Design and Construction I) will be giving a lecture together with Prof. Matthias Beckh and Tim Mahn (Chair of Structural Design) on 20.03.2026 on the topic of sustainable construction methods with load-bearing natural stone as part of the Construir en piedra hoy 2026 event in Caravaca de la Cruz (Spain). The speakers will also hold workshops on the topics of dimensioning and form-finding for load-bearing structures made of natural stone such as vaults.

The Construir en piedra hoy event will take place for the 4th time in 2026 and is dedicated to structural natural stone construction at an international level. It brings together interdisciplinary stakeholders from European countries and presents the results of current research in addition to natural stone projects. A special feature is the combination of theoretical exchange with practical content, which takes place with the creation of prototypes made of natural stone in a load-bearing function. This year, the 1st Morada of St. Theresa of Avila, a place for spiritual contemplation, will be discussed in the form of a pavilion and built by master students of the Munich Technical School for Stone Technology i in Caravaca.
