Dirk Weiß receives the TU Dresden badge of honor
Awarding of the 2025 badge of honor
"Academic excellence requires community, in the sense of the coordinated and binding cooperation of many stakeholders. At the TUD, this community also includes taking individual responsibility for our university. With the TUD I awards, we honor exceptional individual commitment that is supported by vision and courage to stand up for one's own ideas, to overcome hurdles and to shape the world around us," said Rector Prof. Ursula M. Staudinger.
During a festive event in the Dülfersaal on Thursday, May 22, 2025, the TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) honored special personalities for their extraordinary commitment and services to the university. This included our esteemed colleague, employee and friend Dirk Weiß, who received the Dresden University of Technology's badge of honor as part of the ceremony.
In his acceptance speech, his special thanks went first and foremost to his loving wife, who makes his commitment possible in the first place, "...so this success is only possible through the harmony of private life with professional life..."
He thanked his colleagues for their support, saying:
"Thank you very much for the award of the badge of honor - I was very pleased to receive this special award.
At the same time, I would like to emphasize: This honor is not just for me, but for all of us. What we have achieved in recent years is the result of a strong team effort. Without the commitment, ideas and support of each individual, this would not have been possible in this form.
I am grateful to be part of such a competent, collegial and committed team - and look forward to many more joint projects, discussions and developments."
We are all proud of this well-deserved award and what we have achieved so far.
