World Architecture
Different cultures have found different solutions to architectural key problems, such as safety, heat control, spatial compactness, or material efficiency. Many solutions of which maybe even termed as “smart”. Presenting another kind of “intelligence” or “smartness” apart from today’s high-technology approaches, many of these solutions date back for centuries. They have accumulated the wisdom of builders and craftsmen over many generations. In the seminar we want to surveys smart solutions from all over the globe, classify and compare them, and investigate their potential for architectural knowledge transfer across history and geography.
