EXCURSION TO THE CERAMICS CORRIDOR IN CASTELLO

For this year's main and in-depth design, the excursion went to the ceramic corridor between Vilareal and Onda.

Today, the companies there produce around 90% of Spanish tiles for the domestic and international market. A landscape characterized by large-scale industry, created by the long availability of fossil fuels. With the energy crisis, this area is facing profound ecological, social and economic changes.

We visited the historic factories and kilns and were given a tour of Peronda ceramics' newest factory buildings on the second day.
In the design area, we discovered and explored a lot of empty space and a number of lost places. However, the history of the site and its focus on the ceramics industry was also palpable.
