"EuProNet"-Preparation funding granted: "U_CAN - Towards Ukrainian Carbon Neutral Cities"
U_CAN - Towards Ukrainian Carbon Neutral Cities - a project by WISSENSARCHITEKTUR Laboratory of Knowledge Architecture - has been granted funding under the "EuProNet-Anschubfinanzierung” for preparation of the single-stage application under the Coordination and Support Actions Horizon Europe call.
The funding has been provided by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK) that supports participation of Saxon universities and research institutions in competitive European research programs.
Climate-neutral and Smart Cities for Ukraine
With the received EuProNet funds, U_CAN is being developed for the Horizon Europe ‘HORIZON-MISS-2023-CIT-02 Associating Ukrainian cities to the climate-neutral and smart cities mission’ call. The call offers funding for up to 5M€ with a goal to involve, through partnerships, the cities of the European Union in the reconstruction of the Ukrainian cities. This will provide an opportunity for Ukraine and its cities to integrate reconstruction plans with long-term climate neutrality and sustainability objectives in line with the EU Green Deal and relevant international policy frameworks.
Until September 2023, the U_CAN consortium headed by Prof. Dr. Ing. Joerg Noennig will develop a competitive application with a 36 months’ timeframe to associate Ukrainian cities with the process of transitioning towards climate neutrality as being promoted by the Horizon Europe Climate-neutral and Smart Cities Mission. Stay tuned for further updates on the application progress and details about the expert partners in the U_CAN consortium.
More details about the call can be found on the Horizon Europe Website
