Workshop, lecture, paper: Call for Contributions for the Smart City Summer School Dresden 2026!
Are you working with your scientific projects to make the city of the future more sustainable, smarter and more liveable? Then become part of the Smart City Summer School Dresden 2026 and submit your contribution!
From September 23 to 25, 2026, the Smart City Summer School Dresden 2026 will take place as a cooperation project between the TUD Dresden University of Technology and the state capital Dresden with the Smart City Science Network at the Stadtforum Dresden. The main language of the conference is German.
Building on findings and experiences from the Model Projects Smart Cities (MPSC) funded by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB), the summer school aims to promote nationwide networking and interdisciplinary cooperation between scientific stakeholders at the interface of smart city research and application.
In the summer school, which is designed for around 80 participants, central smart city topics will be discussed and further developed scientifically in keynote speeches and workshops.
We are looking for contributions on the following topics:
- Transfer - solution transfer and consolidation of smart city strategies and solutions on a broad scale
- Resilience - contributions and potentials of smart city solutions for strengthening urban resilience and sustainability
- Impact - tools and procedures for determining the impact, acceptance and uptake of smart city
uptake of smart city measures - Governance - Steering, decision-making and participation processes for the implementation of smart city solutions in municipalities
The central format of the Summer School is 12 interactive workshop sessions in which participants introduce relevant topics with short keynote speeches and discuss them in small groups. Proposals for contributions can therefore be made in the following formats:
- Workshop - Interactive workshop session (approx. 90 minutes)
- Lecture - Impulse lecture (approx. 15 min) with subsequent discussion
- Paper - Scientific papers, practice / project reports (max. 20,000 characters)
Please submit your proposals in the form of an abstract in German with a maximum of 500 words. Include 4-5 keywords, the key question(s), concrete challenges, results and findings. When proposing a workshop, please also briefly explain the intended moderation format and name the potential group of participants. Please send your contributions as a PDF document to until 30.05.2026.
Based on the proposals received, invitations to participate will be issued and registration for the summer school will be activated.
