Claudia Marx ist Architektin mit Schwerpunkt in der Denkmalpflege und im Bauen im denkmalgeschützten Bestand. 2010 promovierte sie zum Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) an der University of Cambridge über die Restaurierung mittelalterlicher Kathedralen in England im 19. Jahrhundert. Anschließend arbeitete sie als Projektarchitektin und -leiterin an einer Reihe hochrangiger Denkmalprojekte in Großbritannien. Neben ihrer Tätigkeit an mehreren englischen Kathedralen war sie u.a. an der Restaurierung des ikonischen Landhauses Strawberry Hill beteiligt, die 2013 mit dem Europa Nostra Grand Prix ausgezeichnet wurde. Daneben lehrte sie ab 2015 Baugeschichte am Department of Architecture der University of Cambridge. Seit 2019 leitet sie als Professorin den Lehrstuhl für Denkmalpflege und Entwerfen an der Architekturfakultät der TU Dresden. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in der Geschichte und Theorie der Denkmalpflege sowie der Architekturgeschichte des 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhunderts. Claudia Marx ist u.a. Mitglied des Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), der SPAB und des AKTLD. Sie gehört dem Fabric Advisory Committee für Peterborough Cathedral an.        

Claudia Marx is an architect specialising in conservation and working within sensitive historic contexts. She obtained a PhD degree from the University of Cambridge in 2010. Her doctoral research focused on the restoration of medieval cathedrals in England during the 19^th century. As a project architect, she was responsible for running and leading architectural projects on a wide range of Grade I listed buildings in England, and has worked on several English cathedrals. She was involved in the restoration of Strawberry Hill, Horace Walpole’s iconic villa, which won the 2013 Europa Nostra Grand Prize in Conservation. From 2015 she also taught architectural history at the Department of Architecture at the University of Cambridge. Since 2019 she has been Professor of Architectural Conservation and Design at TU Dresden. Her research interests include the history and theory of conservation and 19^th- and early 20^th-century architectural history. Claudia Marx is a chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), a member of the SPAB and AKTLD. She serves on the Peterborough Cathedral Fabric Advisory Committee.
