The Green Technology in Building group has the primary mission of seamlessly integrating the faculty's traditional design expertise with interdisciplinary approaches to advance sustainable development for the built environment. Our the teaching and research endeavours are firmly rooted in the promotion of ecologically sustainable innovations in building and urban design. The overarching ambition of our group is to realise a future in which energy self-sufficiency and climate neutrality become the norm. The group specialises in promoting green technologies that optimise material use, increase durability and adaptability, improve life-cycle performance and enhance environmental quality and user experience.

Overview

Mindset

According to UN reports, women, especially in economically disadvantaged countries, bear a disproportionate burden of the impacts of climate change and confront unique challenges and difficulties. Simultaneously, women frequently assume leadership roles as advocates for implementing countermeasures and driving sustainability efforts within their communities. We thus acknowledge the pivotal role that gender plays in the broader context of climate change and sustainable energy solutions, and extend a warm invitation to women from developing countries, in particular, to join our team.

Team

We are a diverse team of colleagues with different professional backgrounds. Our expertise ranges from architects to urban design and planning, computer science, environmental engineering and business management (MBA).

Welcome to the Green Technology in Building Group. Our group is dedicated to implementing the New European Bauhaus initiative for "Beautiful, Sustainable and Together". The focus of our teaching and research is on the application of green technology in building and urban development, which promotes the use of critical raw materials free materials, increases durability in operation, improves life cycle performance, and enhances environmental quality and user affordability.
The group is led by Dr Xiaoping Xie.
