Invitation to Symposium on 5 December: "What Potential does digital co-design for urban planning and education?" (U_CODE, Ralf Dahrendorf Prize)
Redesign your own city in a 3D model, contribute your wishes and ideas to planned projects via citizen participation: the co-design tool U_CODE makes it possible. Does this also work for children and young people?
In 2021, the U_CODE co-design tool from WISSENSARCHITEKTUR - Laboratory of Knowledge Architecture was awarded the Ralf Dahrendorf Prize for the European Research Area. The prize money of 50,000 euros was channelled into a roadshow that explored its suitability for use in the education sector (schools, children's and youth festivals).
At the end of the roadshow, the team took a look back at the successes and experiences of past projects. In an interactive "Creative Battle", experts will brainstorm with the guests about the potential that U_CODE offers for science, education and planning practice.
The TUD scientific community is cordially invited to the symposium. Visitors will have the opportunity to test U_CODE extensively via digital stations in the room and a smartphone app.

About U_CODE
U_CODE is a computer application for co-design participation processes with appealing 3D graphics, low-threshold handling and differentiated evaluation options. It was developed in 2016-19 as part of a Horizon2020-funded research and innovation project by an EU-wide consortium led by WISSENSARCHITEKTUR - Laboratory of Knowledge Architecture.
Since then, the tool has proven its worth in numerous national (Fritz-Foerster-Platz Dresden) and international (Kenya and others) urban planning projects - and is currently being spun off as a start-up as part of an Exist research transfer.
