U_CODE WINS STARTUP GRANT – Competitive EFT funding awarded to U_CODE team
Within the highly competitive program “Exist Forschungstransfer” (EFT) by the German Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF), the U_CODE team with Tobias Kusian, Konstantin Doll, Torsten Holmer and Gopi Krishna has won a starter grant of 700 K€ in November. With this financial support, the team will build a startup over the next 1,5 years, to bring the U_CODE solution to the global market. Anchored at TU Dresden´s Knowledge Architecture Lab and mentored by Prof. Jörg Rainer Noennig, the grant will allow the development of machine learning tools for the automated and effective analysis of the results of massive co-design campaigns. Currently, the U_CODE application is used in Just Cities projects in Kenya, in urban participatory planning projects in Japan, and in various urban development contexts in Germany. The Horizon2020 project, from which U_CODE originated, has won the prestigious Ralf Dahrendorf Award 2021, which will be accompanied by a travelling "co-design roadshow" of U_CODE through German cities in 2022.
