The WISSENSARCHITEKTUR - Laboratory of Knowledge Architecture is an interdisciplinary think-tank conducting research, design, and consultation at the intersection of design and social sciences. Our lab explores the multiple cross-links between environmental structures (spaces, buildings, cities), and knowledge processes (innovation, creativity, co-operation). To investigate knowledge dynamics in space, we create visualisation and modelling tools, and apply them in academic training as well as in professional practice.
Knowledge Architecture as transdisciplinary field of research and practice
Today`s global society is increasingly knowledge- and innovation-driven. Work shifts from primary and secondary sectors to the tertiary sector — to service industries, creative economy, education, research and development. All relevant fields of contemporary work — Information and Communications Technology (ICT), biotech and bioengeneering, healthcare and material science — are "knowledge intensive".
The WISSENSARCHITEKTUR - Lab of Knowledge Architecture investigates what kinds of socio-spatial environments help to create knowledge and innovation for the demands of knowledge society, its institutions and industries.
