Research at the Institute of Building Construction focuses on sustainable glass and facade constructions. With our own research mission to develop safe, life-cycle-oriented, and intelligent constructions, we want to contribute to the sustainable construction of resilient buildings of the future.

To this end, three research fields have been defined with the following focal points:

- Design & Construction
- Energy Efficiency & Sustainability
- Adhesive Bonding & Laminates

The research is supported by the Friedrich-Siemens-Laboratory, which has extensive testing facilities for testing components, glass structures, and facades under various load and environmental conditions. The associated adhesive laboratory complements the equipment with special devices and facilities for bonding, testing, and analysis. The Friedrich-Siemens-Laboratory is a certified testing center and DAkkS-accredited laboratory.
